GOOAAALLLL(ie)!

Sans cast, Garrett looked awesome at Saturday's soccer game against Real Salt Lake. (Seriously, the opposing team was beyond amazing, and I would still like to see birth certificates for some of those players who were taller than I am.)

He played goalie for only the second time ever, and he easily booted the ball down the field, threw himself on top of incoming goals, and somehow managed not to incur any bodily harm.

It's fun to face east for an 8am soccer game!

G also played some great D, and as usual, was fodder for some puzzling pictures:

Great job Garrett! (Now if you could just work on not having 6 out of your 7 games at 8 in the morning, I'd be happy)

Labor Day

We took a quick hike up to Rocky Mouth today. Amazingly, everyone was in a good mood and there was only minimal crying. Imagine!

There were plenty of rocks to climb, small caves to explore, and dirt and mud to get dirty in.

Some people managed NOT to break any bones, which was especially nice since that Mr. Someone's cast comes off in 2 days!

Always love a hike with a waterfall at the end, even though this was  more of a "walk" than a hike.

That pull-up bar in the basement is really coming in handy!

One of the best parts about today? All of my children were happy and eager to be in my pictures, which is (shockingly) not always the case. I sure do love to take their pics though. Thanks, guys.

Smile

This girl sure makes me smile....

This past week she decided to run for 5th grade Student Council. It makes me smile that she has so much courage to put herself out there and be involved in things.

It made me smile and giggle when we spent several nights brainstorming together, preparing her campaign speech. Her speech was awesome:

C-A-S-S-I-D-Y---Vote for me I'll tell you why.
I'm cool and smart and stylish too
I'll make your 5th grade dreams come true.
C is for creativity--I'll do posters, signs, and Falcon TV.
A is for my attitude, I'll be proactive and never rude.
Two S's stand for super sis'--I've got 3 brothers I can use my fists.
I is for integrity--I'll run the school store with honesty.
D is for I'll DO my best, so vote for me--ignore the rest!
Y is for YOU-- I need your vote so listen up and learn my quote;
BE A LITTLE SASSY---VOTE FOR CASSI!

She sang it to this kind of military cadence beat and it was pure genius.
She makes me smile!

And even though she did not win, I smiled again when she came home and told me how good the victor's speech was, and that she went up and congratulated her (even though in my mind I know there is no way that other girl's speech was better than Cassidy's, but life is full of injustices so I'll just move on)

Keep smiling, sis,---you are truly beautiful, inside and out. Love you!
