The Girls

Our girls are getting so big! Keeping chickens is so much fun. They are so personable and are low maintenance. All of the kids love feeding them and playing with them. I don't think Rich is quite as smitten as we are but that's okay. Each chicken has their own personality--Cougar and Kevin are "lap chickens"--seriously, they practically jump into our arms when we enter the chicken yard. Jazzy is clearly in charge and very aggressive about food. Penelope and Spiderman are completely stuck-up and think they are above us, and Dorothy is NOT a people-chicken. Imagine!

The chickens are 3 months old now, and as big as they seem, they will yet get bigger! We are anxiously awaiting our first eggs, but it will probably still be a while yet. In the meantime, they are a fun diversion!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

soccer-soccer-baseball

Because we........

have nothing better to do
enjoy Saturday morning torture
love our children and want them to be physically active and learn how to be team players and feel the satisfaction of hard work that playing sports provides....

we participate with love and enthusiasm each week in what I like to call

soccer-soccer-baseball.

Soccer-soccer-baseball involves 1 soccer game for Cass each Saturday and both a soccer game AND a baseball game for Garrett. Soccer-soccer-baseball involves wardrobe changes in the car while driving from one venue to another. Soccer-soccer-baseball involves flipping a coin to see which parent gets the chore privilege of carting Sam to said game(s). Soccer-soccer-baseball involves that sickening feeling when you realize, half way through the game, that it is your assigned day for treats and  you've got nothing. And soccer-soccer-baseball involves lots of amazing pictures:

Cassidy is so blessed to be part of such an amazing team. Her coach is an incredible leader and teacher and inspires the girls on and off the field.

And the snacks have been pretty wonderful, too (as long as it's not our week and we forgot again).

Garrett is a soccer zealot (if there is such a thing).

He is super speedy!

He makes great faces!

He loves his coach and teammates and...

enjoys a good shin-guard contemplation every now and again.

Love you, number 8!

And where's the baseball part of soccer-soccer-baseball? Coming soon, I promise! (as if you were holding your breath!)

Camp Floyd

Had a great time with Cassidy and the entire 4th grade on a fieldtrip to Camp Floyd. Beautiful weather, beautiful place, and lots of energetic 4th graders!

Here is Cassidy's amazing teacher Mrs. Alston. Ben also had her, and I'm wondering how many brownies and/or cupcakes I would have to make to ensure that the future King boys have her also! She has a true gift for teaching, and seems to really love her students and expect a lot from them. She's my kind of teacher.

The original school house in Fairfield....

filled with very original students!

While I snapped pics on my iphone, Cass and friends learned how to make candles.....

I think I'll stick with the iphone!

There was also target practice (Rich would be so proud)

I love going on field trips, especially because Cass loves having me there so much. Thanks for inviting me, sis!
