Why it's good to have cool friends with toys............

You get to ride backwards around Hyrum Reservoir....

AND torment your sister and her friends all day long.

Don't worry if the water is unbelievably frigid, because Uncle Derek will carry you to shore.

Or, you could just completely refuse to get wet and instead hold a darling 4-month old all day, lazing in the shade with him while he blows bubbles and giggles uncontrollably.

Dogpiles are always fun,

especially when you've got a bad case of the sillies.

Have you met my boyfriend? What a hottie.....and what a shortie I am!!

And I think we may have started a new family tradition by stopping by the BURGER BAR in Roy for burgers and fries. It's the home of the BEN BURGER. Yummy!! ( I actually had the elk burger, which was surprisingly good and tasted a lot like a regular hamburger.)

Boring title #1

Just for the record, I really wanted the title of this post to be

Sam Sucks!

but I was worried I might offend some people, one of them being me, so I didn't.

But really, Sam does suck! (Garrett does too, but that's a story for another day).

Sam also is cool, way cooler than me.......

Love you, baby boy!!!

P.S. A very wonderful, wonderful thing happened recently: My friend Heather and her husband were chosen by a very courageous birth mom to be parents. I am overjoyed for them, and for their soon-to-be little girl. That is one lucky baby.

Oh what do you do in the (almost) summertime?

What the King Family does in the (almost) summertime:

1. We take as many naps as possible

2. We dress up like lady bugs and perform in musicals with the Lehi Children's Choir

3. We spend hours making a pinewood derby car that is slower than molasses (but looks great).

4. We celebrate a certain someone's 4-month birthday.
He couldn't eat his cake so I ate it for him.

(the list continues, but without photos)

5. We attend a certain 7-year-old's soccer games

6. We attend a certain 10-year-old's baseball games

7. We tear down, move, and set up a swing set

8. We plant our garden (beans, tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, summer squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon and (for the first time ever) corn.

9. We compete ferociously against our family members to maintain the high score on various games on Wii Fit. I'm pretty sure the Olympic scouts will be contacting me soon.

10. We enjoy the warm weather and revel in the fact that we have places to be, people to love, memories to make, and a new level unlocked on Wii fit.

Photo-Phabulous

I've always kind of fancied myself a photographer, imagining that one day I'd be "discovered" and have my work showcased in some fancy gallery somewhere. I'm sure you'll agree that the following pics are evidence enough of my up-and-coming stardom:

This lovely out-of-focus gem was me trying to capture Garrett's kite-flying skills with my ultra-zoom lens. Notice how I managed to get Garrett and the kite in the picture--NOT!

Have I mentioned how good I am at capturing red-eye? It seems to be my specialty, especially when we wrap our children in their traditional Middle-Eastern costumes.

I am a great portrait taker. I seem to be able to really get to the heart and soul of all my subjects, revealing their true inner spirit.

This precious moment was snapped while I held a 3-month old on one knee and a 4-year old on the other knee. There is no obstacle too big, no stranger's backside too large that I can't still get quality shots. Fortunately, I got the stranger's email so I can forward him his own copy.

And finally, I must give some credit to my faithful assistant, Rich, who took this priceless pic on HAPPY Mother's Day, emphasis on HAPPY. Don't be surprised if you see our family featured in next month's Ensign. After all, we've got it all together, as those of you who sat near us in Sacrament meeting can attest.

So remember, when I make it big as a professional photographer, YOU KNEW ME WHEN!

Missing Garrett and other unimportant things

I wish I had some fabulously creative post today.
Or some new great picture of my childrens (mispelling intended).

But I don't.

But I DO still have this need to reach out, to write something and have someone comment. (Can you say needy?)

So here is a short list (oh please) loosely entitled "THINGS CURRENTLY RUNNING THROUGH MY BRAIN" by Kelly Lyn Huckeba King (Did my maiden name throw you?)

THINGS CURRENTLY RUUNNING THROUGH MY BRAIN
(Scary, I know)

1. I am reading a fabulous, life changing book. It is called The Continuous Atonement by Brad Wilcox. I recommend that everyone go out and buy their own copy (or you could borrow mine). If you do read it, please call me because I would love to talk about it with someone!

2. I loved Stake Conference this past weekend! Here is my favorite quote from Elder W. Douglas Shumway, of the Seventy: "The very best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time to plant a tree is today."

3. My friend Garrett spent yesterday and last night at his Grandma's house. Two things I noticed in his absence: 1) It is so quiet in my house (a good thing) and 2) It is so quiet in my house (a sad thing!). Hurry back, G. I miss you!

4. I scored big time at D.I. yesterday. Sam and I went "treasure hunting" (as I call it) and found a pristine Star Wars Monopoly set for $2, among other treasures. I do so love Deseret Industries.

5. My yard is completely ugly and overgrown with dandelions and weeds. Evidently it is not going to weed itself.

6. When I was in the car yesterday I saw a teenage girl walking down the street. She was obviously pregnant and obviously smoking. I had the urge to stop my car and talk to her about......life, the gospel, her baby. I wanted to show her Sam, have her tell me her story, see if I could help her. Of course in actuality I did none of these things, but I thought about her the rest of the day. Maybe one day I'll get the courage to stop the car.

7. For homework this week I have to do a report on Kane County and also a scrapbook page for the teacher's scrapbook (I meant my kids have to do a report and scrapbook page, sorry).

8. I was very proud of myself for being organized recently. Since we are juggling different days and times each week for Ben's baseball practice and games, and Cassidy's soccer practice and games, I went through the calendar for May and June and wrote (in orange ink) each day and time of all the games and practices. Last night we got a call from Ben's coach. The entire schedule has been revised. (This is why I maintain it is better to just embrace your disorganization and get on with your life.)

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
(Anyone want Taco Bell for lunch? It's authentic, you know.)
