My Friend Sam

This is my friend Sam.
I like him because when I talk in a silly voice, he smiles like this.

He's not really big enough to go in the exersaucer and play with toys, but I pretend he is.

He likes to suck his thumb, but his Dad pretends that he doesn't. I say it's cute on a 3 month old, but party-pooper Dad says it's not so cute on a 4 year old.

Sam and I have a lot in common. He likes to sleep with his Dad, and so do I.

Spring Break

Oh, the weather outside was frightful (in Lehi)....

But St. George was sooo delightful...

And since we had lots of places to go...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow (in Lehi, but not in St. George)

Do you have 45 minutes with nothing to do? Good, because evidently I was testing the limits of my camera to see if it would actually hold the 600 pictures it says it does. Just kidding about the 45 minute part, but here are a few pics of our voyage down south...

The King Family Recipe for an Enjoyable Vacation

1. Rocks to climb and throw, and plenty of them

2. Hikes with waterfalls at the end

3. An indoor swimming pool with cool slides

4. An adorable 3 month old who was, amazingly, an ANGEL BABY the entire trip

5. Taking our van on dirt roads to cool ghost towns in the middle of nowhere

6. Sibling love--can you feel it?

7. Sand, sand, and more sand (But where is the ocean?)

8. Down time punctuated by EXTREME SILLINESS

Whew! Congrats--you're almost at the end of this post! Just one more picture....

of an extremely happy but worn out mama llama!
Thanks for letting me share.

P.S. If anyone has any time to spare I could sure use help with the post-vacation laundry.....

Eggciting

I just want everyone to know ( all 2 of you) that I have tried several times this week to post something new but there is only so much you can type while holding a Sam.........

Here are some pics from Easter......

I think all the (Pagan) Easter traditions are quite fun and we embrace them all....including dyeing eggs (which only I eat), visits from the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, and my favorite, the after-hours parent-pilfering of the Easter baskets. For not being a chocolate person, I do have a personal weakness for Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. Yum.

Also, let me take a minute to announce to the world that today Rich and I are starting our first ever BIGGEST LOSER contest. We are racing each other to see which of us can lose 5% of our body weight first. I am planning on winning, even though he thinks he is going to beat me , he is mistaken. So if you see me eating ANYTHING AT ALL please pull said food from my mouth and remind me that I really do want to win. I mean lose. So long, Reese's eggs.........

That is SO high school.....

I went to high school in a sprawling suburb halfway between downtown Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. In my high school of 2000 students, about 20 were LDS. Thanks to Facebook, I recently reconnected with some "blast from the past" friends (of the non-LDS variety, not that it matters, just for clarity in this story). So imagine my surprise today when I received this invite...

What: A mini high school reunion

When: Saturday, May 2, 2009 @ 2pm

Where : Aaron & Janie Korn

Who: Pretty much the ‘gang’ from high school and our spouses. Kids of course are welcome; however, this will be a good opportunity to call the babysitter and let your hair down as this party will contain adult language and beverages. I know my kids are staying with Grammy and Poppy.

Miscellany: We will have food and beverage (beer & margaritas). This will be a time to hang out and catch up on old times. I do have room for people to stay. Most of the beds are already spoken for but we have lots of floor space so you are welcome to bring an air mattress or sleeping bag and we’ll have a big slumber party. There is also lodging (from the no-tell motel to the Hilton) within about 7 miles if you prefer. If you do plan on staying, please let me know.

Any other questions/comments feel free to call, e-mail or facebook message me.

After reading the email, I had 2 main thoughts:
#1. Evidently, some people have forgotten that we graduated from high school 17 years ago!!!

and

#2. I have a feeling that my adult conversations, beverages, and slumber parties are way better than theirs. Why, just this morning Garrett told me he loves me more than Peeps (the Easter candy), after which I drank some kool-aid that he had stirred with his own bare hands, and last night Samurai Sam and I had our own version of a sleep over (minus the sleep).

Can't touch this!
