FHE at the park

Sometimes you might be exhausted from wrangling your kids while teaching  piano lessons all afternoon and then dinner is a flop (even though you really tried)  AND you forgot to pull something together for family night so you might just head to the park and play together and snap a few pics and it might be the perfect ending to an otherwise forgettable day.

We are a little obsessed with baseball right now.

And frisbees and boomerangs. Ben can make them SOAR!

For some reason they all wanted me to take their picture a thousand times on the park toys. Like I minded.

Good footsteps to follow in, Sam.

As I look at this cute picture tonight, it's hard to imagine how I could have yelled at that sweet face just hours earlier because he was complaining about setting the table for dinner and I reprimanded his complaining and he said "IT'S A FREE COUNTRY I CAN COMPLAIN IF I WANT TO" and then I lost it and Darth Mom came out (and so did my light sabers) and I yelled at this wonderful, intelligent, loving, kind, and funny 7 year old. Sorry, G. Let's try again tomorrow, 'k?

Baseball and a Birthday

Opening Day for G's baseball team found them knee-deep in an infield full of mud, thanks to the "20% chance of rain" predicted by KSL earlier in the day. Not that the boys minded, just the parents and evidently the "baseball commissioner for American Fork" (is that like an elected position?) who declared the field too wet to play on but let us stay and  practice anyway. Go figure.

It only took Garrett a few minutes playing first base to realize parents and coaches aren't kidding when we say "KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL". Or don't, and you might take a ball in the general vicinity of your stomach and it might not feel too great. Oops.

Fortunately for everyone, Garrett is a fast learner.
(I've always loved that about him.)

A little smackdown crackdown.
(of the ball of course)

But my fave picture of the evening? This awesome cat, who spent quite a bit of time frolicking in the infield mud (along with the boys) and when she had had enough she curled up next to this bat.

GO CUBS! Looking forward to a season full of caught balls at first base, warm weather, and more baseball-loving cats.

P.S. A very happy birthday today to my mom! We had so much fun at her party last night!

Easter 2012

We colored some eggs (and some fingers and the counter)..

We found a few eggs on Saturday....

and even found a Grandma....

And then there was the Easter Sunday extravaganza:

the egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's..

...followed by the annual Easter scavenger hunt:

and our traditional bunny cake (although I had to make it this year 'cause someone had to get cancer and not be there. And we all missed her.)

And although not photo-documented, we also enjoyed attending church together as a family and reflecting upon the beautiful gift of resurrection that the Savior has given to all.

Happy Easter!
