Snow much fun

Do you ever feel pressure on holidays to have some fabulously exciting plans but really all you want to do is stay at home in your pajamas and not comb your hair? (oh wait, that's everyday).

Since Sam's birth we've become shut-ins but today we managed to escape for some snow fun. We have a little place up the canyon (cabin, you're thinking? yeah right) that's called Mile Rock that we love to picnic at during the warmer months. Today we ventured to our favorite spot and found it covered with 3 feet of sparkling snow. The kids had managed to fight most of the morning and several found themselves sentenced to their rooms before breakfast, but a little fresh air did wonders for everyone's attitudes (especially mine) and soon we were all putting snow down each other's backs like good friends do. A favorite part was the King Family luge we made while sliding down the hill without sleds. Another highlight was the snow caves formed by all the snow piled on top of the picnic tables! Even Samurai Sam (this week's moniker) enjoyed his first snow day by sleeping the whole time. The only downer was G having to use the pit toilets (a given) and me having to go in the bathroom to help him remove myriad layers of outerwear to get to the underwear and beyond. The best part of all? NOBODY EVEN CRIED.

Thanks snow much for reading!

What a fabulous idea! I'm always amazed what an hour out of the day can do to make the day a success.

Can't wait to see Mile Rock in the spring - when there's no snow - and it's warm...
